I have had a good experience being involved with my TAB Board.  It gives me the opportunity to share the issues my company is experiencing with other business owners.  I receive valuable advice from members that give me a point of view from outside my company.  I also like that I may be of help to the other members.  There have been times when one of the other members has an issue that I have dealt with in my own company and I can share my experience with them.  Overall, I believe, that the advice and knowledge I gain from the TAB Board more than pays for the fees I'm charged.

Having the TAB Board provide input to issues that I deal with in my business has helped me to make better decisions. Sometimes this input from other board members, encourages the direction I am heading and sometimes it sounds a note of caution—–in each case it is results in better decisions. With today’s fast changes, I do not want to be without the TAB board.

Prior to joining TAB I’d always imagined the benefits form having a “board of directors” to be accountable to and bounce ideas off of.  I’d heard recommendations from others about having your CPA, Lawyer, Family and Significant others serve on such a board.
 
Who would put this together and organize it?
What’s in it for them?
What is the actual value of advice from such people?
 (this is probably why that never happened).
 
What you really need is a board made up of people who have experience in small business and someone to facilitate the meetings.
 
TAB is just what I’d been dreaming of.
